We’re attempting the impossible.
A screen-free summer for our family*.
And honestly? We may never go back.
We’ve noticed a big difference in our parenting, as well as H + M’s behavior. It only took H about 3 days to stop asking to watch a movie, and now it’s like she doesn’t even remember that they exist.
Since we were no longer watching movies, or the occasional show, we made a summer bucket list to draw our attention towards.
Let me know what we’re missing!
Let me know what we’re missing + need to add!
Moving forward, we’ve talked a lot about what role we want the television to play in our family. We have no judgment to families that are taking a different route than us. Do what works best for your kids. But we think we’re going to “take it back to the old days.” Remember when you’d go to Blockbuster and pick out a movie on Friday night? We miss that feeling. We want it to be a special occasion for our kids.
So here’s our plan. (Obviously I’ll report back with pros + cons once we start implementing this.)
We’ll see how it goes!
Are we completely crazy for thinking this could work?
(*Okay – in all honesty, it was supposed to be a “whole family” challenge, but Lucas and I caved on night one. We have been working our way through the Marvel movies and just couldn’t stop!)
Thanks for being here,
Regan
