We survived.
We took our four + two year olds camping and we survived.
Camping with kids is a lot like riding a bike. It can be daunting if you haven’t done it in a while, but once you get out and doing the dang thing, you’ll realize it really isn’t all that bad.
Today I’m sharing our packing list, meal plan (and other meal ideas), and sleeping setup that worked (as well as it could have for two kids sleeping next to each other in a tent when they’ve never slept next to each other before).
And now.
What you’re probably wondering…
Did we get any sleep?
YES!
Not as much as we normally do, but we did sleep a solid stretch.
Whenever we are in a new place, we try to keep the kids’ bedtime routine as normal as possible.
Put pj’s on, brush teeth, read a book, roll some Sleepyize oil on, turn on the sound machine, tuck-in, and sing a few songs.
So when we went camping, we did all of those same things in the same order we normally do. It took Hazel + Milo about an hour longer to fall asleep because of the excitement of being to sleep next to each other, but I think (hope) that the more we camp with them, the more the giddiness of sharing a tent will wear off and we’ll be able to get more and more sleep each time we camp.
Have you taken your kids camping before? What are your favorite “camping with kids” hacks??
Thanks for being here,
Regan
