We’re moving…

An update on the update:

(If you didn’t read our last family update, that would be a great place to start!)

Picking up where I left off – Lucas’s medical board process isn’t completely finished, but when he went for his official appointments + meeting with an Air Force doctor, they basically told him that his medical condition would be a “non issue,” in not so many words.

So this left us with a decision. Since he wouldn’t be getting medically discharged, do we want to stay in the Air Force for one more assignment? Do we want to stay in the Air Force until Lucas reaches 20 years of service? Do we want to separate from the Air Force and start a Christmas tree farm asap? Or do we want to separate from the Air Force and move back to Alaska for several year?

We had so many choices. Too many choices, actually.

But, we went to Alaska over Thanksgiving and during that trip we were convinced that we were going to move back. We even looked at a few houses that we had been eyeing on Zillow. We told our closest friends there that we were sure we’d be moving back. We even started making plans for things that had been left unchecked on our bucket list from our first time living there.

Fast forward several weeks after that trip – something changed. I had been praying for months that the Lord would reveal his plan to me in a dream. (I tend to have some crazyyy dreams.) And that didn’t happen. But what did happen was a unified change in both of our hearts.

We feel at peace with our decision. And once you find out where we’re moving to, you’re going to see just how important this peace is. If we can find peace with this assignment, it must be the right decision.

What does this mean? We’ve accepted another assignment with the Air Force. There are a handful of reasons why we feel this is the best decision for our family right now. And where we’re going?

KANSAS.

Specifically – Wichita, Kansas.

We’ve never been there.

We don’t know anyone there.

And we’re nervous.

(Literally ALL the same feelings we had about moving to Anchorage, Alaska.)

See what I meant about the peace we’re feeling about this assignment? I feel like if we can feel at peace about moving to Kansas (no offense, KS) then it’s where we need to be.

Lucas’s report date is no later than August 31. So at some point this summer, we’ll venture out that way.

Where does that leave the Christmas tree farm? In the same place it currently is. Nonexistent. BUT, we’re actively looking for properties in Virginia that would fit our needs. And who knows? Maybe we’ll find a place before we move and get some trees in the ground.
