“Christmas wreath.”
“Holiday wreath.”
“Winter wreath.”
Whatever you want to call it – it’s great. A (pretty) quick + easy way to brighten up your front door in the winter.
We take our tree down before January 1, but we leave our wreath up for MUCH longer. This is for a few reasons: it’s timeless, it’s minimal, and it lasts for such a long time. (I’m even going to add some of my tree branches to our wreath after we take it down.)
I’m sure there are a million ways to make a wreath, but here’s how I do it:
1. Buy garland OR forage for greenery. (I usually get my garland from Costco.)
2. Separate into different type of branches.
3. Cut branched to a workable length, (about a foot or so).
4. Make bunches! Depending on the size of your wreath frame, you may need to adjust the number of bunches you have. I start with 7-8 bunches for a medium (front-door-sized) wreath frame. Group together greenery in a bouquet-like bunch.
5. Once you’ve made your bunches, use floral/crafting wire to hold the bottoms together.
6. Repeat until each bunch is sturdily tied at the bottom.
7. Place the bunches around the wreath frame, placing the flow of the bunch with the direction of the circle. Add in any extra bunches if needed.
8. Use the floral wire to attach each bunch to the wreath frame, the tighter the better.
9. Continue adding the bunches, overlapping the top of each bunch with the bottom of each bunch, so the bottoms of the bunches are covered around the wreath.
10. Hold up the wreath to see what’s missing. Add in any extra greenery/tie up any loose pieces.
